Kathmandu: On the day of Indrajatra, a cultural and historical festival of Kathmandu Valley, a grand fair was held in Basantpur on Thursday.
On Thursday, the main day of Indra Jatra, a Rath Yatra is being conducted from Basantpur in Hanumandhoka Darbar area to Lower Town. Before the Rath Yatra, special persons and thousands of common people observed the Jatra.
President Ramchandra Paudel, Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, Chief Justice Vishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, Speaker of the National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina and other ministers, parliamentarians, members of the state assembly and local people’s representatives watched the Indrajatra from the throne meeting in Hanumandhoka.
On the occasion of the Jatra, President Paudel had given permission to take the Dakshina Yatra on the chariots of Shri Ganesha, Shri Bhairav and Shri Kumari. After this, the Rath Yatra of Shri Ganesha, Shri Bhairav and Shri Kumari was performed.
